Trigger Echo Announcements with SmartThings Automations

In the following video, I will explain you can set up a simple virtual switch that can be used in your SmartThings automations to trigger various announcements on your Amazon Echo devices.

These announcements can be setup to report the status of your doors, using the status of a multipurpose sensor, or they can announce the arrival of a family member when they enter your homes geolocation.

To set-up the virtual switch you'll need to install the code in the SmartThings IDE. The video will provide step-by-step instructions on how to install the code to create a device handler.
